Press

Growing up in Nenzingen in Baden-Württemberg near Lake Constance, Valentin discovered his passion for nature and wild animals at an early age. After graduating from high school, he completed his civil service at the Otter Center in Hankensbüttel. After a stint in Namibia, he moved to Botswana in 2011, where he founded the Modisa Wildlife Project. Since 2017, he has been dedicated to preserving the wilderness in one of the most uninhabited regions on Earth, the southern Kalahari. He manages a 70 square kilometer reserve on the edge of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. Valentin and the Modisa Wildlife Project work closely with local authorities and the community to combat poaching and create incentives for people to preserve their wild homeland.
